COLOMBINI & Co. S.r.l.
In 1885 Pietro Colombini started a small workshop to provide servicing to the rice mills that had been set up in the area around the Tessin river.
By the first decade of 1900 Carduccio Colombini succeeded in expanding his business and began manufacturing more and more improved machines: threshers, mill wheels.
In the '50es his son Piero began exporting the machines and set up rice mills in Greece and Turkey.
Thanks to his know-how and skills he also began co-operating with international organisations such as FAO, World Bank, Italconsult, Gexco, etc.
These latest years the production of laboratory's equipment for tests on rice samples is being stepped up and exported all over the world.
In 1967 Sergio jointed his father Piero in the business, became specialised in parboiling technique at handicraft level, thus expanding exports to Africa and Guyana.
Exports are further boosted after having designed and manufactured a compact rice-mill, available at a very controlled price, which many developing countries such as Niger, Senegal, Burundi and Rumania are interested in.
